Before the 1980s, graphic design was mainly created by hand-drawn designs and printed by printing press machines.

But around 1980, the journey of digital graphic design started with the discovery of Adobe Photoshop software.

The four decades since then have revolutionized digital graphic design.

Softwares I learned

  • Adobe Photoshop

We use a variety of photographs or images, and visual content for various design-related tasks. That is why it is very important to know Photoshop software as a designer.

  • Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator software is one of my favorite software and most of the graphic design work is done through Illustrator software. There, from logo design, banner design, cover page design, almost all types of design are done. In many cases, I do the primary content of motion graphics through Illustrator software, and especially after effects when I have to work with after effects. Its different types of projects I initially create layers through Illustrator and import after effects.

  • Adobe After Effects

It is the most remarkable software for motion graphics designers, I would say it is a boon for motion graphics. In my opinion, most motion graphics work is done with after effects software.

  • Adobe Indesign

Next comes In Design which is basically a very important software for publication and very user-friendly software.

  • Maxon Cinema 4D

Next up is Cinema 4D motion graphics for which over the past few years it has become unrivaled software. A very timely software for 3D motion graphics.

  • Autodesk 3ds Max

I use 3DS Max software mainly for modeling. In which I can do basic modeling of a lot of motion graphics including product modeling and my favorite software for modeling is 3DS Max.

  • Procreate

The most recent software I've learned is Procreate, It is basically a software based on Apple iPad, nowadays I use this software for various work related to drawing from different layouts.

  • Canva (online light software)

In the end, many people may not like the software, but I think Canva is a very timely and modern software for online design and presentation software. As we should always keep pace with technology, I think Canva software is very timely and useful software. Although it is a bit difficult to make a very heavy design or presentation through this software, for normal small tasks, Canva software is really very useful software.

Why I use these softwares?

Based on the last few decades of research and the opinions of various authors, I have noticed that these software are very useful software for motion graphics and graphics design, research and some quotes are as follows:

According to Pibernik and Mrvac (2008): Maya, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Premiere, the production of vector animation by Adobe Flash, Adobe Photoshop, and Apple Final Cut Pro (Seidl, 2008). (previous decades)

Where Seidl (2013) supports this saying that: Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Apple Motion, Cinema 4D, Autodesk Maya, 3D Studio Max and Nuke are the most common software for motion graphics that are used for post-production, to achieve specific visual effects, and combine different elements and layers (Babic, Pibernik, Mrvac, 2008).

Figure 2. Popular softwares according to 2d Motion designers (School of motion, 2019)

MOTION DESIGN SOFTWARE THAT IS MOST POPULAR Perhaps unsurprisingly, over eight out of ten motion designers use the Adobe tool After Effects as their primary software, making it the most widely used in the sector. With 28% of the motion designers polled indicating that Illustrator is their second-most-used programme, Adobe also claims the next position. The poll results shown here are most definitely not earth-shattering because Illustrator is commonly regarded as the 2D vector design software of choice among professional artists. There was just one 3D software available; the most widely used 3D motion graphics software is called Cinema 4d (School of motion, 2019).

How I learned these Softwares

Learning software was very challenging for me because after studying fine art, I felt that to keep up with the modern times, I need to knowdesign-oriented softwares. For that purpose, I started learning software since 2012. Since then various YouTube content and various tutorials as well as a website called lynda.com have a large number of tutorials and training videos with the help of which I started learning the software and continued to practice on my own, continuing for about 10 years today. I am trying to learn the softwares although there is no such thing as learning is over I am still learning.

I am constantly learning new things and trying to learn new software tools. It's really fun because I love learning new things.
